UC Chancellor Appointed Adviser to the Prime Minister

18 July 2008 (Phnom Penh) – The University of Cambodia and its entire community would like to warmly congratulate Dr. Haruhisa Handa, Founder and President of the International Foundation for Arts and Culture; Chancellor of The University of Cambodia; and Chairman of World Mate on being appointed Adviser to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen,  Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. A sub-decree signed by the Prime Minister on July 18, 2008, granted Dr. Handa the Adviser to the PM.

Dr. Handa has been recognized by the Royal Government of Cambodia in recognition of his philanthropic contribution and commitment to the development of Cambodia. 
Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, President of The University of Cambodia stated that the appointment “will go a long way in enhancing the relationship between The University of Cambodia and the Prime Minister’s Office and between Cambodia and Japan.”
 
Dr. Handa’s many accomplishments include establishing Cambodia’s first “Japanese Culture and Business Research Center,” contributing to the international welfare of the blind by serving as Vice President of the United Kingdom’s Royal National Institute for the Blind, contributing to the educational development of future leaders of tomorrow by serving as the Chancellor of The University of Cambodia in 2003, and much more.
