Background

Mission Statement

The LCDC aims to provide leadership development opportunities and professional career services to UC students and the entire community of Cambodia. The LCDC assists job seekers by helping them transform their experiences, interests, talents, and life long ambition into career possibilities. To achieve these goals, the LCDC provides support services that build the confidence of job seekers in many ways such as career assessment, networking, resume writing, interview training, and participation at UC hosted career & internship fairs.

There are thousands of students who graduate from colleges and universities every year and are both eager and scared to enter the job market.  Many students and community members are poorly prepared for the job market because they lack the basic knowledge and skills needed to find good jobs, writing their C.V., and making a good impression with their interview.  Poor job preparation may lead to loss opportunities and increasing frustration.  Before, there were no centers in Cambodia to help students and community members prepare for the job market.  The University of Cambodia recognizes that in these next few years thousands of graduates and community members will be entering the job market in search of starting strong careers.

The demand for career consultation and preparation is on the rise as job seekers look to land competitive jobs in the globalizing market.   As a result, the University established the Leadership Career Development Center to address these needs.

However, job preparation should not begin months before a student graduates. Leadership and personal development is a life long process, and thus should at least begin the very first day that a student arrives at their university. The LCDC will host workshops and provide opportunities to work with the school and community in order to facilitate the personal growth of students.
