U. C. welcomes the Year of the Rooster with in-campus celebration On Sunday, April 10, U.C. staff organized a Khmer New Year party which was attended by the faculty and the students. Traditional games like Bos Choung, Bos OngKunh, Veay Ka-Om were played followed by Khmer dances. Based on their knowledge of Khmer culture, Chhean Vuthy and Kosal Sovann Kunthea were chosen representatives for U.C. by the audience.
Asia-Pacific Regional Coordinator for Children's International Summer Villages, speaks at U.C. .Ms. Junko Imanishi, Asia-Pacific Regional Coordinator for Children's International Summer Villages visited the University of Cambodia as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series on April 1 to speak about "Creating Global Children &Offering Scholarships in Japan"
Ms. Imanishi gave valuable information about scholarship programs for research students who want to continue their studies in Japan.
U.C. signs agreement with Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University for exchange programs On April 25, U.C. president Dr. Kao Kim Hourn signed an agreement with Mr. Supol Wuthisen, the president of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University of Thailand, to promote educational cooperation among the two universities.
The agreement aims at various programs like student ,faculty and research information exchange to encourage friendship and mutual understanding
U.C. Language Lab headed towards completion The University of Cambodia's Language Lab will be ready and open for the students by the second week of May . It will assist students in improving their listening and speaking skills. Besides a huge selection of reading material it will also have various computers to help in practical aspects of language training.
U.C. welcomes its students to the language lab to make full use of the facilities .
Featured Faculty Member: Nepthalie O. Vargas Coordinator, College of Public and Business Administration
Mr. Nepthalie O. Vargas comes to the University of Cambodia from the Philippines. He has worked as a well-diversified I.T. trainer, trainer and consultant in I.T. and business for various organizations.
He worked for five years in a Government-owned Corporation in the Philippines as Systems Analyst for a World Bank Project . He also supervised on-the-job-trainees in the field of computers as an I.T. consultant. He came to Cambodia in October 2003 and has been a part of U.C. since then.
Mr. Vargas earned his M.B.A. and B.S. in Computer Information System at Columban College (Philippines).
U.C. offers discount for new FasTrax term U.C. is offering discounts for various time slots of FasTrax starting in May. Students and outsiders considering taking up this course are encouraged to enroll now to avail the discount.
